A microwave that runs but does not heat

If the light comes on, the turntable spins and the fan runs but food stays cold, the microwave energy path has failed rather than the control circuit. The usual suspects are the magnetron itself, the high-voltage diode, the capacitor, or one of the thermal cut-outs that protect the cavity. Testing these safely requires discharging the capacitor first, which is why this is not a do-it-yourself job under any circumstances. Sparking inside the cavity

Arcing is usually caused by damaged cavity paint exposing bare metal, a burnt waveguide cover, food residue carbonised onto a surface, or metal trim on a dish. It is not automatically a sign that the oven is finished. Replacing the waveguide cover and refinishing the cavity restores safe operation in many units, and it is a low-cost repair — provided the damage is caught early rather than left to spread.

Noise, turntable and door faults

A grinding sound normally comes from the turntable motor or roller ring, a loud hum from the transformer under load. Doors are safety-critical: three interlock switches confirm the door is shut before power is applied, and a failed interlock will either stop the oven working or, far more dangerously, allow it to run with the door ajar. We test all three every visit as a matter of routine, even when you called us about something else.

Magnetrons, diodes, capacitors, interlocks, waveguide covers and turntable motors are fitted as original White Whale parts. Every repaired unit is leak-tested and run through a heating test before we hand it back, and the results are noted on your invoice alongside the warranty period.
